Abstract

Digital globalisation has become increasingly prevalent in the Nigerian education system, leading to a growing need for quality assurance. This issue has become particularly relevant in basic and post-basic education sub-sectors in Nigeria's education system. Understanding the interplay between digital globalisation and quality assurance in the Nigerian education system, especially at the basic and post-basic education respectively calls for concern of the stakeholders such as the government, and the citizenry in general. This prompts the rationale for the education system in Nigeria at the basic and post-basic levels to be digitally inclusive. More so, educational activities can continue in the face of emerging issues such as climate change and pandemic outbreaks without the academic calendar being truncated for any reason and quality assurance of the service delivery not being jeopardised. Digital globalization is admonished as the device (computer and the internet) used in linking the whole world as a single village and entity. Quality assurance refers to the standard and benchmark proscribed to serve as the measuring device in ascertaining the level of compliance with the prescription. Against the ground, this study explored various factors and dynamics within basic and post-basic education. Given this, the following were suggested as recommendations among others: Government at all levels should ensure equitable access to digital resources and infrastructure by all teachers, educators, and learners across the board of education sub-sectors; and Monitoring and evaluation of digital globalisation should the responsibilities of all the stakeholders in the education sector.
