Effectiveness Of Spiritual-Integrated Therapy In Reducing Psychological Distress Among Women With Infertility Challenges

Infertility is the inability of an individual to conceive after engaging in a series of unprotected sexual intercourse for a period of twelve to eighteen months could be devastating and traumatic. This trauma exacerbates emotional distress which can threaten psychological health leading to psychological distress. Considering the negative psychological and emotional implications, infertility could cause, there is need for studies and designing of interventions to reduce psychological distress among women with infertility problems. This study included fifty (50) women with infertility challenges accessing treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, and State Specialist Hospital, Ikere -Ekiti using a quasi-experimental design. An adapted form of Kessler's psychological distress scale was used for both pretest and post-test data collection from participants divided into Spiritual Integrated Therapy and the control group. The results showed a significant reduction in the psychological distress level among participants exposed to spiritual Integrated Therapy compared to those in the control group. Spiritual Integrated Therapy is effective in reducing psychological distress among women with infertility issues.
